According to Shastras and Puranas, Vishrava and Prajapati Puastya were respectively the father and grandfather of Kuber. His mother is Idwida, the daughter of Bharadwaj Rishi.
Kuber prayed Lord Shiva for hundred years on the banks of the river Narmada, on account of which Lord Shiva was very pleased with him and granted him the boon to be the chief of the Yakshas. Yakshas are the guards of the treasures hidden in the earth. Kuber was appointed the chief of such yakshas due to the blessings of Lord Shiva means that he is the preserver of the largest store of wealth on the earth.
Mahalakshmi perpetually resides at the place, in the form of Rajyashri, at the place where Kuber had performed his worship of Lord Shiva. Therefore Rajadhiraj ? King of Kings ? Kuber, sitting in his court, is always donating wealth and money.
Lord Kuber is the God of wealth and material but not its originator. His responsibilities is to distribute the above two things properly. Creating wealth and distributing the same is the divine mother Goddess Lakshmi.
Kuber yantra is worshipped during the Pooja of Shri Kuber. This yantra is very rare and after its worship, it needs to be properly placed in the business vault, dues to which its cosmic light always permeates the business premises and there is never any shortage of wealth.
